I got one of their albums, the same one you have... it's got a lion on the cover?
There's a few others... Collusus, etc. I see them quite frequently.
Pretty cool stuff.
peace.

Formed in 1976
Style: Electronic
Original line-up: Steve Maxwell Von Braund (synthesiser, sax), Geoff Green (synthesiser, organ, piano, mellotron)
Releases: Steve Maxwell Von Braund solo album: Monster Planet (Clear Light of Jupiter, 1975); Cybotron albums: Cybotron (Clear Light of Jupiter,
1976), Saturday Night Live (No label, 1976), Colossus (Champagne, 1978), Implosion (Cleopatra, 1980).
History: Steve Maxwell Von Braund was one of the first musicians in Australia to be influenced by the singular sounds emanating from Germany during
the early 1970s. (Labelled `krautrock', the German `kosmische musik' movement encompassed Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel [sic], the Cosmic Jokers,
Can, Neu!, Amon Düül II, etc.) The German-descended Von Braund was reputedly an associate of the likes of Hawkwind and Tangerine Dream.
In 1975, Von Braund recorded possibly Australia's first wholly `electronic' album, Monster Planet. Von Braund played an array of synthesisers,
electronic percussion and treated saxophones. Ex- Master's Apprentices frontman Jim Keays sang on the title track and ex-Aztecs member Gil Matthews
engineered the album as well as playing drums and bass. Henry Vynhal played violin. In 1976, Von Braund unveiled the krautrock-inspired Cybotron with
fellow electronic musician Geoff Green. Cybotron was a bona fide experimental outfit, and the band's eponymous debut album featured a mix of heavy
synthesiser kinetics, organ drones and pulsating electronic beats (`mind-expanding brain food', to use the vernacular of the day).
Colossus (also engineered by Gil Matthews) featured a more progressive edge backed by a massive symphonic sound. Colin Butcher (drums, percussion,
synthesiser) augmented the line-up for Colossus. Implosion followed the symphonic route, but with a pop tinge to a couple of tracks like the single
`Encounter'/`We'll be Around' (December 1980). Mark Jones (bass, guitar, keyboards) joined for Implosion, and engineer Matthews was back playing
drums and keyboards. Other Cybotron singles were `Colossus'/`Ride to Infinity' (May 1978) and `Ride to Infinity'/`Xmas Hills' (May 1980). Green
also contributed keyboards to the track `Earthrise' on the cosmic concept album Back from Beyond by electronic musician Ian MacFarlane (no relation
to the author). The album appeared on the Neutron Star label in 1980. MacFarlane issued one more album, Void Spirit, in the same ambient/ -progressive
fusion vein.
