Bitter Belief has been writing rhymes for a while now and it shows. A veteran of a newcomer after releasing mix tape after mix tape
but finally here is his debut studio album. Isolation is the album's name but by no means is Bitter B himself
isolated and it shows by the calibre of guests spots and production. This is an interesting release, there are a couple parts where it seems that
something is missing but the majority is extremely enjoyable. Parts of this album make you think with deep stories such as "Chemical Love",
"Burning Embers" and "Own Worst Enemy", which in turn, are probably the albums highlights.
The part the album fails are in songs like "Perth Party" which although an ode to his home town seem like it's missing something.
Bitter B just appears more comfortable in his delivery on tracks where he is story telling or where there is a deeper meaning. The
majority of the albums deep boom Bap production is produced by Downsyde veteran Optamus and he does a superb job.
Downsyde counterpart Dazastah whose production seems a little lacklustre on this release, besides the dope, "Who
Would Want Me Dead" where his and Drapht's guests spots show that they still have insane diction and gifts on the mic. The rest
of the tracks are produced by Creed Birch and Rob Shaker, who do a great job especially on the god father laced
"Pure Evil", which is most likely about an ex that our protagonist Bitter B has had a nasty break up with. Infact quite a
lot of this album appears to be written during a break up or a nasty patch in a relationship. This adds to the album though as B
seems to be his most comfortable spitting about deeper subject matter rather than braggadocio such as "Who You Came To See" which has some
great punch lines but seems a little forced.
You really see B open up on track 3 "Move Back" where he rhymes cleverly about his favourite artists and albums (I don’t
agree with some of his quotes due to the fact that Relapse is one of the worst albums I have heard. Those accents bring on strong
waves of nausea) but still a great song and he really finds his feet here. "Burning Embers" is where it really heats up though, the haunting
Nas sample from "One Mic" gets stuck in my head over and over again. The reason I love this track is because you can really
feel that B still has that love for hip hop that some veterans lose due to getting wary of the game. He shows real potential with
quick and clever fast flowing lines such as “artistic adrenaline you could never tell which way my diction was headed in”. Track 5
"Letter To Melody" has a bit too much of a poppy feel for my liking but you can see what they are trying to do here with guests such as
Creed Birch, John Barett and Porsah Laine, and it succeeds in what it aims to be. "In Your
Mouth" is a forgettable track just seems a bit like filler and I don’t like his flow on it. "Dance With The Devil" is a very nice track
where B rhymes as if he was Lucifer himself a very enjoyable story track. The next track "The Peoples
Champ" actually gets stuck in my head due to the Optamus produced catchy beat and he should leave his boasting for tracks like
this in the future. "Lost Soul" is a fast paced lyrical assault which has a haunting piano melody and suits the rest of the album.
"Memory Lane" isn’t the greatest track on the album and it has Bitter B reminiscing on the album. "The Bounce"
sounds as if it should be on a Dr Dre album and just sounds mismatched and like filler here. "The Storm" is one of the
better tracks here telling three stories but is put together perfectly and just seems to work with Porsah Laines chilling hook.
Overall this is a really solid release. There’s filler, but its shows great potential and it would be safe to assume he will most def be an artist too
watch in the future. A very solid debut and will be waiting in anticipation too see what comes next from Bitter B.
I saw Biter grow as a rapper for about 2 years, and that one song "Perth Party" was always a standout when he rapped it on a jacked beat... he also
toned the lyrics down, as there was a fair bit of misogynistic and just general cuntingness I guess he didn't want portrayed on this album... but
live, the track really does get the crowd rockin.... prolly only a Perth crowd but ha!
Dope release, I recomend it fo sho

To be honest I came back to Perth after a stint away (a few years) and Bitter was suddenly this guy that was in SBX, rapping the bigger shows,
everyone knew him etc, and I was a bit like, who's this new kid, and I still haven't peeped these notorious mixtapes that he's put out, but I gotta
say if this album shows of things come then I'm excited, well, I am excited. Good skills and good bloke.
