East Coast US

Sup guys?

Heading back to the states next year... gonna properly check out the west coast (last time only did LA/Santa Monica) and head to the Bay Area etc but also head back east and do the pilgrimage to NY.

Keen to peep some surrounding areas like Chicago, Philly, Boston... any tips, dope spots etc?

Sounds like quite a pilgrimage to the birthplace of hip hop.

Chicago is a must if you got the coin for an extra flight. Few dope clothing boutiques that throw clothes on many chi town emcees, LEADERS and St. Alfred and check out the area downtown just west of the city called Wicker Park. Dope little area, great places to eat, a bunch of record stores and the most graffiti anywhere in the city.
Boston is great place too, haven't spent enough time in the city to help you out there.

I'm in LA and there is plenty to see here from West Hollywood Fairfax ave, to the 3rd street and Ocean Avenue Venice and Santa Monica. Downtown LA is also a upcoming area trying to "re-gentrify" the area. The arts District downtown is a must. If your here during a Beatswap Meet downtown China Town crate diggers wet dream.

SF is also a must imo, so much shit there its a joke just don't get caught up looking at Alcatraz and hanging out at the wharfs too long....tourist trap.

When were you looking a going? Summer or Winter?

Need any more info on these cities and i can help, just holla.

@Sinks. Me and the lady are heading June-ish next year... get out of the cold! Holla.

@TheWiz Heading there next June/summer.

Yeah Chicago seems dope. Had a few friends be there recently and said nothing but good things. Food, clothes and records is what I want haha.

Really keen to suss out LA properly as last time was more touristy things. We didn't have a car and relied on public transport. Bad choice! Only went downtown on a Sunday and was pretty bare but really would like to explore the area. BeatSwap looks dope from what I've seen. What time is it usually on?

Def hitting up SF. Everyone says it's like Melbourne (which can be both a bad and good thing haha) but it seems like they got some culture shit going on which I'm down for.

Prolly do a week or so each place then off to NY. Can't wait to go back there. Was there for 1.5 weeks and still didn't manage to tick everything off the list.

The Swap Meet is every 3 months, next one is december 11 2011, so you might be round for it.
Best to rent a car in LA, taxis are a rip. China town (where the swap meet is) is round the corner from some of the Art Districts and Little Tokyo downtown, tons of dope artists used the buildings as canvas'
