One Instrumental And One Beat With Jane Tyrell Style vocals.
2 of my most recent tracks. They could do with some more layers but heres where they are right now =) i'd love some feedback. Tell me why or why don't
you like it. Always looking to improve. enjoy!
The vocals on one day at time were nice The production was a bit too minimalistic though
Too Long
This is definitely one to light it up with. Not sure if intentional or not but I find the drums rather lacking. Not sure if played or sampled but the
instrumentation on this is choice.
The hat fills are a nice touch but not a fan of the fast pattern used, detracts from the kajsh vibe. Also that bell before the hats come in could do
with a delay or alternatively use another sound, its a bit abrupt

Thanks so much for the feedback man, i'll take it all into account and keep working on it. I agree with the drums lacking..Im not too sure how to keep
a chilled vibe and get the drums a bit more up front without being the main focus. Maybe some more percussive instruments to fill in the blanks or
something? Or fills? I'll work on it =D

Yeah man, guitar is just going into the apogee duet..I made the riff on a bass guitar but i used a sub bass synth in the end.. I'm pretty sure it was
from Native Instruments Kontact. cheers!!!
thanks Chee1. thanks for all the love guys. im working on a new track now. I don't really do too much sample orientated work, but im working on a
stylistics joint which will be nice. A bit of a change
Killer vibe man! Makes me wish I still smoked weed on the reg.
Too Long is definately the stand out. Great guitar work, so chilled.
Bassline on Here I Come is fresh as Will Smith (in a good way). If I was to critique anything the drums on that track at times felt a little staggered
- if thats the vibe you were going for then sweet, but just felt a bit awkward to nod my head along to it at times. Are they live or programmed?
All in all great shit though, really dig that live feel!
One day at a time somewhat reminds me of hermitude style production, so do other subtle aspects of your other beats as well, really dope man!
How do you manage to get such a big/warm feel from simple type beats? Like beats where there isn't a whole lot going on?
I like the real chilled/laid back vocal echoes in Here I come to.
And the beggining of Midnight straight up reminds me of the Doors haha, but then it kicks into some reaaaaalllllll laid back flowy type shit, p.s
props on that sample an old favourite and its dope!
EDIT: I went to your soundcloud shortly after and saw Hermitude as your top influence so there you go haha.

My name is Renz!
It\'s just whenever I try and register as that it\'s already fucking taken so I\'m constantly having to chuck in \"oner\" or
\"one\" or \"onez\" etc.. because I have no imagination.

man thanks for the feedback! Listening back, i can definitely see how the drums are just abit off sometimes. The way I program drums is that i layer 2
or 3 snares together and have one bumped abit futher forward on the piano roll to get a live, non robotic feel. I think I went a little overboard on
that so I will fix it up! And yeah, all of my drums are programmed (Battery) except for the odd shaker here and there.

haha yeah im abit sad I missed them play in sydney last night! Cheers for the feedback dude, really appreciate all that. I think with the big/warm
feel - my "go to" instruments are rhodes and guitar and I think they compliment each other pretty well. The rhodes being in the low/mid usually and
the guitar riffs I play being in higher octaves/frequencies. Adding a sub bass gives the rhodes a good drive in the bottom end too. For me, it's all
about the right instrumentation for the track to fill the frequency spectrum. And Eq'ing any muddiness. I hardy use compressors on anything! Mainly
because most of the drums, bass, synths are software - so it's all compressed to begin with! I think alot of people forget that sample libraries store
sounds that are already EQ'd, compressed etc and then go ahead to compress yet again. The only compressor I will use is at the mastering stage. Hope
that helps man!
