Haha yeah my bad probably over rated it a touch.
The first episode is stunning (that scene when the family finds out about Rosie's death is a masterpiece and remarkably chilling) and it continues to
be really intriguing for the next 6 or 7 episodes.
But, yeah, it does lose focus and gets too deep into the red herrings later on in the series.
The acting is great and the cinematography is quality but it just tries to get a touch too clever.
I also cannot work out whether the ranga detective is hot or not.

quite an intriguing character but I wouldn't even touch her with yours tbh
and wtf is up with her partner, is he meant to be the cop version of Jesse Pinkman?
what grown man calls his mother "moms", unless he was raised by a lesbian couple?
you can have a totally inplausible story with multiple twists in a show like 24 for instance, because its mostly balls to the wall action, but you
can't have a slow burner with plot holes that ridiculous in it, and wtf was that epsiode when HER kid goes missing??
"17 year old girl diddled then drowned...hmmm, yes let's not check her internet history for two weeks, since when do teenagers surf the web?" ffs
don't these people watch ANY other police procedural show??
and after all that we don't even find out whodunit..the only reason I was still half watching while doing other things, yeah as if I'm going to watch
your shitty fucking second season, The Killing.

Hahaha the more you dissect it the more I have to admit it was garbage.
I am so reticent to admit a show was shit when I've sat through the whole thing.
It got extremely good reviews in the US media which is why I stuck with it, expecting some big pay off.
But the problem with those reviews is they are generally based only on the first 2, 3 or 4 episodes maximum which are sent to the journalists prior to
a show's debut.
Anyways, I will stand firmly by Brotherhood, even if the first season is only 7/10, because it does reward you if you watch the other two seasons.

OZ

A series chronicling the daily activities of an unusual prison facility and its criminal inhabitants.

Baltimore drug scene, seen through the eyes of drug dealers, and law enforcement.

Definately hasn't flown under the radar for most - but I had not seen an episode of Community until today.
I don't watch tellie, and just never got around to picking it up.
I regret not watching it earlier. |
It's a shame they canned it in the 3rd season. it was starting to get really good.

I would recommend This Is England '86 - the follow-up mini series to This Is England. It pretty much flew under the radar in our part of the world.
The second installment This Is England '88 is screening at the moment in the UK.

Watched the first episode of parks & recreation on a plane and lost my shit several times within the first 2 minutes, gotta DL the rest.
Speaking of flying under the radar.. apparently there's a new show being filmed which is like MadMen but on a plane with sexy air hostesses and sexy
pilots.

Also big ups on the recommendations in this thread. I've just started Forbrydelsen (The Killing) which I'm enjoying. Will check out the US version
further down the track along with Sleeper Cell and some others.

I just watched the film yesterday and then '86 yesterday/today.
The last episode made me feel actual sick in my stomach. TISFURN.
The only other time I've had that kind of reaction was when reading Less Than Zero.
Look at my drawings if you like: http://contextvillain.tumblr.com/

It's pretty confronting hey. The bloke who plays Lol's dad is disturbingly good. Fuck, that whole cast is.
I've just downloaded the first episode of '88… kinda frothing in anticipation.

I started watching this yesterday after it was recommended to me by a few people in the UK. It's amazing how really good shows can slip by purely
because of the language difference.
Anyone seen the US version...how does it compare?

‘Community’ returns for another semester after fans step in to back show, says star Joel McHale
Creative lobbying by supporters keeps series going on tough night against 'Idol' and 'Big Bang'
Class is back in session on NBC’s “Community” Thursday night after a long winter break.
The ensemble comedy about a study group of oddballs who roam the halls of Greendale Community College was left off NBC’s schedule, the victim of a
glut of sitcoms and no return date in sight.
The cast and crew kept filming the final 12 episodes with no idea when — or if — they’d be seen.
“There was no sort of like, ‘All right guys it’s the fourth quarter, we’re down two touchdowns, let’s really dig deep.’ It wasn’t like that,” says
star Joel McHale. “It was more like, well, all we can do is try to make the best shows we can.”
Fans, however, were less philosophical and more organized.
“Their creativity and their passion and their tirelessness surprised all of us, because they didn’t complain for just one week, they kept complaining,
and they got more and more creative as time went on, flash mobs being one example,” says Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta on the show.
“Tweeting our advertisers who advertised during ‘Community,’ thanking them for their support of their show, they were sending black goatees to NBC.”
That was a nod to the “evil” Abed, played by Dan Pudi, and Troy, played by Donald Glover, from a recent episode.
And why not? The strategy worked a few years ago when “Jericho” supporters sent 20 tons of peanuts to CBS, a move that helped buy the canceled show
another seven episodes.
“They’re so creative and organzied and relentless that it makes us feel like people noticed that we were on and people cared,” says Jacobs.
“I didn’t think there was more that you can do, and then there were the flash mobs; I think there was a human sacrifice,” jokes McHale. “I could
French-kiss every fan.”
It’s not clear, however, how many of the young fans bombarding Twitter with messages overlap with the viewers who have Nielsen boxes.
It does help that the show’s replacement in the Thursday 8 p.m. time slot, “30 Rock,” fared just as badly against the double buzzsaw that is Fox’s
“American Idol” and CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory.”
“It’s a tough slot, and I’ve always felt that way. And I’ve always been proud to plant our feet there and take a kidney punch [for the network] week
after week,” executive producer Dan Harmon recently told reporters.
“Community” is back but a senior year is still up in the air. The show had been averaging roughly 4 million viewers a week this season, not exactly
A-plus ratings.
McHale’s advice to save the show?
“Keep cutting out those goatees and airdrop them on a major city."

Friday Night Lights.
Initially it came across as a bit of a soap opera but it develops really well across the 5 seasons.
It's been roundly lauded by the critics in the US which is what put me on to it.
Seasons 4 and 5 are particularly bomb because they feature Madison Burge, who is so gorgeous she makes me smirk like a downie.
