I'd be very suprised if the Saints made the finals, or Freo, for that matter.

This.

I'm amazed that people think it's a thing that the no. 1 side in the comp gets more frees than it gives away. It would be news if the ladder leaders weren't getting more frees than their opponents.

^ it only happens over there though... not in Melbourne.

the Weagles need to win at the G, including the lack of frees, to be anything more than fools gold...

I still rate them as very good sides with a chance of winning the flag. But to say they are clearly better than the top 2 sides in WC and Essendon is the behaviour of a silly billy.

hehe.
i guess it's a bit like how if Carlton won last night, they would be top, and you would be saying the team to beat, haha.
while if they lose this week to the Crows, they will be outside the 8, and you have them as a Premiership contender?

fuck what the media says - they know fuck all, collectively. :bufont:

good banter today lads, keep it up!

So if the crows beat carlton next week, where does that put us? do we make the rone dog 1 of 8 teams will win???

Crows finish 5th, swoop the cup!

Rone hasn't seen them play yet, his precious eagles were playing at the same time on the weekend.

I was pleasantly surprised the crows won...was under the impression carlton were good this year.

^ the 'media' said Carlton and Richmond will be good this year.

they both have good/young mid-fields, and that is about it!

Tipped the crows thinking that would be generally too hard for the Blues, and it kinda said it all when Murphy and Dangerfield collided and Murphy left the ground injured and Dangerfield went on to be best on ground...

Dangerfeilds highlights reel from the weekend is redonk!

it's a long season, and there are plenty of tough matches for all the better sides to come...
should be an interesting 'bye' period, over the 3 rounds.

strength to strength mak............ hopefully!

Fuck tippet was usless though until last 5 minutes, wont mind if he leaves to gold coast end of season and can be replaced by the ever impressing Jenkins, lyon or mckernan easily....... use to put tippet and walker on par but lately walker is far surpassing tippet, tips can mark but not kick for shit, jenkins, lyon n mckernan can mark and kick it seam.

Crows cant afford to lose danger field though. At all cost he has to stay.......

apparently a guy chucked 100 k on north when they were 21 points up in the last.
in another forum i mentioned that crows were amazing value,
but honestly did not think they would win by that much, i still expected blues to win
just thought the odds were good

Heiro the Crows are clearly a premiership threat based on their record. I still haven’t seen them play but I'm keen to because from what I have read they are playing the type of footy I love – fast, attacking, contested footy.

I was stoked with the way WC played minus so many key players.

Watched the first half of the Hawks v Freo game and was equally impressed with Hawthorn and dismayed by the Dockers.

Hawthorn’s ability to turn on the after burners is a big weapon. Freo’s inability to kick goals is a big weakness.

They can have as strong a defence as they like but if they can’t regularly kick 15 goals a game they will not make the top 8 let alone win a flag. I have a soft spot for the Dockers but Christ they are frustrating.

So happy with my $35 bet on Dangerfield to win the brownlow paying $501 after round 1.

Less happy with my $50 @ $17 for Walker to win the Coleman.

Pretty happy with my $100 @ $27 for Crows outright at the begining of the year.

.... but over the moon about the love for Adelaide on this forum.

Word up.

Fuck all 3 of those bets are looking pretty good, especially the first and last. Nice work mate.

Dangerfield is definitely the type of player who attracts votes.

Crows need to throw major money and probably captaincy at Dangerfield, he will be a long term star.

As a port fan it fucks me off no end to see them playing this well, I still don't think they can win flag though, next year or year after though lookout.

Tippet got 450k a year last contract too keep him yeah? Fuck that's overpriced for output, offer him 250 to stay or let him walk, crows font need him.

As for Port amazing what happens when you stop chipping for two minutes and kick it long to the leading forward who's a great mark. Fire Primus, make this gameplan stat.

No carrazo no Murphy, another wasted year for Carlton, no Swan for a month will hurt Pies, Geelong looking average and Hawks rolling into form, interesting year. Last 5 teams - port included - are way below standard though

^^ If they get rid of Tippett, who is viewed as a major threat by opposition teams, then suddenly Walker will find himself double teamed constantly.

That is the massive value of having two potent marking fowards...they cannot both be tag teamed.

While he is a bit over rated I would not let Tippett go anywhere.

I never got the buzz that Tippet generates either, but he is an on-field achiever occasionally. When he plays well he can really turn a game on, but most of the times he is just a big mark with an unpredictable kick.

The other surprise packet is Rozz Sloane. He is killing it... they all are really, after sitting through two seasons with little sparkle, it is brilliant that this is actually starting to happen. I am proudly getting ahead of myself.

As an Adelaide fan, it pleases me to no-end that Port has managed to generate a small amount of hype in the middle of another horrible season. The best part about the hype is that it genuinely risks being destroyed after the next embarrassing loss, which could and will occur at any time, even this weekend against Gold Coast. I am just disappointed that there are two new teams to take some of the crapola away from Port Adelaide's shithouse run. The fact that Port managed a comeback of that intensity was legitimately remarkable, especially as there were only about two hundred people watching, fifty of them blind and some twenty others were fortunate they missed the first bus.

Remember when Williams said 'One team in SA is going up, the other is going down', shortly after that dickhead held up a wooden-spoon and jinxed his club?.... both great moments in Port Adelaide history.

as I said before, it will be an interesting few weeks leading up to the bye, with a few 'pretender' teams to be exposed...
