No audio signal in Mac

What's up people

I got a Tascam US-122L interface today and I tried hooking it up to my mac. When I tried recording in Cubase, I realized my mac wasn't receiving any input signal.

I downloaded the latest drivers but that didn't cause any significant improvement. It looks like the computer recognizes the Tascam because everything looks fine in the control panel.

When I go to System Preferences > Sound > Input, the two choices that come up are 'Built-in' and 'Audio line-in'. I think the latter might be the Tascam but I'm not even sure, it doesn't receive any signal.

I can hear myself when I plug my headphones into the Tascam. I've gone through the procedures layed out in the Cubase quick start manual but I'm not getting any input, I'm hoping its not a compatiblity issue or something. My MXL 770 mic is connected to the Tascam which connects to the mac via USB and I'm running OSX version 10.6.4

It'd be awesome if I could get some help

Thanks

My foot bones connected to my, leg bone.

Have you setup up your audio device in cubase (told it what interface you wish to use)?

Have you tried turning up the input gain on the interface's mic channel?

Did you turn on the Fantom Power switch 48V button on the mic channel (you do know that the MXL is a condensor mic right? & it requires fantom power to operate.

Have you set the right input channel on your cubase track?

Have you gone to the core audio settings in the mac & pointed it to your interface (told the mac what interface to route audio in & out of)(you have to do it)?

Sorry I dont have a mac so i wont be the best help, also unless i see it with my own eyes this is all the help I can give with the details you have provided.

If these means going into the system preferences and selecting the i/o devices to use then yes, with a but. Last night I thought the "Audio Line-in" option was the Tascam so I had that selected. I'm beginning to think that that isn't the Tascam though because it remains a selectable option when i disconnect the Tascam from the mac. This baffles me cos I got nothing else connected to the damn thing. Also, in the Tascam control panel, the mac recognises that the device is connected so I don't get why it wouldn't show up in the i/o selection

It's not being recognised, that's the default stuff.

When it works it will say something like "Tascam Ch 1-2" etc.

Thanks heaps for clearing that up Ruxton! That was really bothering me

Any ideas on why it doesn't show up under the inputs tab, yet it seems to be recognized by the mac's Tascam control panel?

Is it compatible with Snow Leopoard/10.6? the tascam site only mentions 10.5 (Leopard) on the product page, but download has a 10.6 version of the driver.

Not sure what driver version you're using but try this one

Mac OS X driver ver 2.00 (Snow Leopard 10.6, 32/64-bit) for US-122L and US-144 - 1.38 MB
TASCAM_US-122MKII_US-144MKII_Driver_2.00.dmg

Otherwise who knows, have you tried contacting tascam? somethings not right here :)

No dramas.

Should have known. I would have mentioned drivers but look what you posted.

Also Tascam has to be one of the slowest companies to release drivers when a new OS comes out. Other than the hire on call dev built software of AKAI products.

Yeah man my bad on that, I apologize for the misleading description. I'll take this as a bit of a lesson to be more thorough next time. Cheers again for helping us out
