it would be awesome if they released the software so it could integrate with existing akai controllers aswell (MPD series).
The software layout looks interesting as, i would love to download a demo and have a play around on my MPD 26.

There are rumours they will be fully intergrated
with the MPK series, so they may do the MPD products
aswell. I hope so then you can jump on your keys & control
all the tranport functions of the Ren or Studio.

I've been mocked before for this but the best new hardware out is that beat thang. The guts of it shit over an mp for sampling time, it's standalone or works with a pc, it has the worst advertising campaign of all time and is a bit ugly but its feature set shits all over the mpc Renaissance. I reckon the pads would be cool too how there layed out like keys.

No I haven't. Not sure if I will. I have no money and I'm still burnt from getting maschine. The blue lights look pretty shit but they would help to see in the dark. If you can't afford light globes? It's got the best feature set of all the new samplers. For the price Renaissance should be standalone and connectable.

ive got maschine and i probably wont jump to another format or hardware until i can justify spending coin on something that does what maschine already does (or i win lotto).

i do however like the Beat thang features, the standalone option is great and the battery would be dope if you were performing with your hardware more than programming or producing, the mod/pitch wheels on either side of the hardware look handy too.

The Beat Thang -

Don't really like the look of it to be honest.

I used the virtual beat thang and it has nice presets like madfx said...not bad for a basic little program but not something I'd use very often. It crashed a fair bit for me, which didn't fill me with much confidence.

Yeah I had an ASR-X Pro back in the day.
Its obviously the look Beat Kangs were trying
to mimic it reminds me alot of one.

Upset I got rid of it though, going to replace
it soon with an ASR 10.

yeah its not really marketed as high end. it sells at best buy which is like big w i think. or kmart. its 900 bucks but for old hardware heads that dont want the computer on its got the best features. alot more features than renaissance but yeah so did that roland mv5000 but i heard it wasnt easy to make good beats on.

haha. Yeah the mv5000's shit though. Nah maybe they are amazing but alot of ppl ive spoken too dont seem to get there with that machine and end up making nice beats on something else. anything that plays back samples is theroetically good if you have the skills, but the aim of a good beat making doovawaka is to maximise good beats from minimal skills with minimal effort. They sell cheap as though those roland things. Not very popular.

Haha your a funny dude. Doovawaka ill have to remember that one.

Try $5,000.00 RRP check out the link below.

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/shop-by-brand/roland/roland-mv...

But yes they do sell cheap second hand at times.
On eBay in the states there selling for a minimum of $700.00
often go off for about $1000.00.

Its often due to people becoming frustrated with not
knowing how to operate a professional piece of audio equipment.

On tha real the Roland MV8800 makes use of a time stretching
algorithim which is still light years ahead of anything from the MPC series.

I hate time stretch. To each thier own. I was saying alot of people didn't like the mv, despite it's good features it wasnt user friendly. Your just saying the same thing pretty much.

Its really not as hard to use as some people say.
Nine times out of ten it is not the product that is the
problem, it's usually a user error.

I actually wrote, produced, presented, filmed & edited a 30 minute
instructional video on how to use the Roland MV8800 in 2008.

It covered topics such as;

A basic overview of the unit.

Basic sequencing on the unit.

Basic overview of the sampler.

How to record samples via the rear inputs.

How to import audio phrases, one shot's
& instruments via the CD writer & DVD reader.

How to max out the unit by upgrading the RAM & HDD
space to a larger capacity.

Navigating the unit whilst connected to a VGA monitor.

Was a good project.

If anyone on here needs help with the unit just ask.
I know quite a bit about it.

Yeah. Normally the name of something wouldn't bother me...but the Beat Thang just rubs me up the wrong way.

The company that builds the beat thang is called Beat Kangz.

If they toned down the blang factor and named it something a bit more sensible I think it would be way more popular.
