Extreme Makeover

Im not one to support plastic surgery etc, but seriously this show is beautifying America and increasing their self esteem.

Iv always had the opinion that you need to be confident and happy with yourself no matter how you look. But sometimes in the stage of creation, some humans are less lucky than others. Which is unfortunate. And sometimes its a product of their environment or upbringing.

These people go through face lifts, nose jobs, neck tucks, ears being pinned back, boob jobs, tummy tucks, lipo and teeth restoration, just to name the common procedures. Many done all at once.

But the final product makes them so damn happy that all the pain they've gone through doesnt matter in the slightest.

On one hand I dont like the show glorifying plastic surgery but on the other hand I see how happy it makes the participants. Thoughts? Here are a few examples....

I agree with you, that when you look good, generally you are more confident. And if this has made them happier then Kudos to them.

And it would be really lovely if we could all sit here and say that it doesn't matter. But, similarly to communism, it works in theory and not practice.

I think the real point is how fucking sad we (the world) are, that we feel the need to butcher ourselves to 'feel' better or more accepted.

anyone seen the Swan that's on in the mornings? it's an extreme makeover type thing but the series ends in a beauty pageant.

no one can dispute plastic surgery for disfigurments, and hey if makes you pretty and you feel better about yourself then go nuts. some of them on the swan end up great but it's a shame when the girls end up looking fake and plastic when just a makeup/wardrobe makeover would have made them gorgeous.

I remember the episode with the lip girl.

The first one is... hmm.

It's only the beautiful ones who say be happy with what you have.

I say: be happy with what you have.

The truth is sadly, i find that a majority of people judge u on you on your looks. We have all heard the lines " It's whats on the inside that counts" and "Looks shouldnt mean anything" but lets face it, most people are not going to go up and talk to the guy in the corner with a skeleton like figure, huge hives and no teeth. Also, another thing is, the better you look, the more job oportunites you get. Do you see a fat and horrible girl working in supre these days? No! And it is really dissapointing. People should not be judged by how they look, but it is always rewarding to feel beautiful inside and out. Some are luckier than others, we should learn to love ourselves for who we are, and others should also.

You're just saying that because..... you're pretty?

It will never happen, first thing you see is the outside, you will judge straightaway based on that. I’ve done it, we’ve all done it. And even though we are far from perfect ourselves, we still do it, some of us just become penitent afterwards and learn abit.

Anyways about the show, yeah it;s good. BUT some of them dont need the whole fake boobs and shit, and some end up looking worse than before.
I love the teath bit, I have a thing for a great smile.

I agree with you, beauty does not only come in a size 8, explains why i do not own any size 6,8,10 and 12 csized clothes. I was just making a point, I dont even walk into supres caus i am so intimated by the drop dead gorgeous girls in there.

Miss T also said:You're just saying that because..... you're pretty?
I dont think im pretty. i hardly even have the confidence to smile at someone i dont know. Never judge a person you dont know.

Maybe the contestants of Australian Idol should hide in a big box when they sing and only come out after they win.

Thing is those supre chicks have to put a whole lotta effort into their appearance every morning. Hair, make-up, clothes the lot. Its time consuming...

But underneath all that shit, they look like everyone else, completely normal.
