Always enjoyed Boxing, Martial Arts and UFC etc. but only just recently started collecting the DVDs. If you've got a minute to recommend to me your
favorite UFC DVD ie number I'd be hella interested. There's just so many and I want to start a solid base for the collection before I just start going
through the numbers from the beginning.
So far I've only got UFC 140 (Jones vs Machida) and UFC 84 (Penn vs Sherk & Ortiz vs Machida)
Loved the Frank Mir vs Minotauro Nogueira on 140 , some real high level BJJ shit there.
Enjoy good striking but really enjoy the technical grapplers. Hit me up with your favorite UFC # if you can be fucked.

I don't have suggestions for best events, and I know this isn't what you're asking for, but I strongly recommend watching them from the start in
chronological order, including all Pride events and the RINGS 1999 & 2000 tournaments if possible.
watching the UFC by itself won't give you a accurate idea of who was at the top pre-2007. it's kind of cool to watch go from org to org and watch
them all in order - there's a real continuity about it.

Isn't there a lot of talk about set ups and fuckery in Pride and other earlier formats? I kind of started with UFC because I assumed it was the most
trust worthy.

there was at least one fixed fight in Pride, which was Coleman vs Tanaka. that was niether here no there though because it had no title implications
and was purely for the Japanese pro-wrestling fan boys. it's not like they fixed a title fight.

I've seen a couple of weak matches that border on sketchy in Pride on youtube. But like you say it was probably the minority, and probably not major
matches. Will be checking some of the older stuff out.
