Gee’d Up For LGEEZ

LGEEZ
Melbourne’s Alex Jones (formerly known as Dr. Flea) and Sydney’s Son of Sam started their ‘bromance’ back in 2012 when a friend introduced them to each others music. Digging each others flow, these two powerhouses joined forces to become LGEEZ. Both talented in their own right, the pair recently dropped their joint debut album as LGEEZ; Cloud 9, as well as the recent mix tape #SLAPAHIPSTERINTHEFACE. Both Alex and Sunnah have been nominated for an OZ Hip Hop Award. Oz Hip Hop writer Farley Ward struggled to gain back control when the boys quizzed her during their recent chat. Read on to see how our interviewer became the interviewee.

Hey! It’s Fleasus and Son of God! What’s up guys hows things?

Alex Jones: Haha!  Good! That was for the Easter Edition of Goonbag Radio!

Yeah, I saw it, I didn’t pick up it was an Easter Special though. But that’s a clever pun!  You guys have been busy! You dropped the Cloud 9 album late last year; I’ve been bumpin’ it in the car lately…

Alex Jones: Really? What’s your favourite track?

Well the whole album is almost like a musical journey. I reckon the Anthem has a rebellious, run the street sort of vibe; MDMA is a dope trap party track; and Speed of Sound is quite reflective.

Sunnah: That one does it for ya huh?

Yeah, those are the three that stand out to me, for sure!

Alex Jones: Have you listened to the mix tape?

Yes, I only downloaded it a couple of days ago, so I haven’t had as much of a chance to listen to that one, but I have listened to it.

Alex Jones: Well what do you reckon?

To be honest, I think I like the mix tape better than the album!

Alex Jones: Really? Thank you. So do I.

You called it #SLAPAHIPSTERINTHEFACE… So I take it you boys don’t dig a man bun or beards?

Both: Hahaha…

Sunnah: Well only because we struggle to grow a beard!

The mix tape is very lively! I am imagining a lot of rowdy partying during the making of this one?

Alex Jones: Actually, we wrote this in a couple of days! We just got stuck into it and smashed it out. There wasn’t much partying going on at all, it was really the complete opposite.

You got a few dope collabs on the mix tape from the DOA boys, Guts and my man Big Hustle! You must be stoked with the turn out!

Alex Jones: Yeah totally! Did you know Big Hustle is Sunnah’s cousin?

Yes, I heard that actually! I’ve partied up with him a bit when he was in Brisbane with Hyjak recently!

Sunnah: Haha, that would have been interesting, and how did that go?

We had a great time.  He’s a good fella!

Sunnah: Ummm, are you sure we talking about the same guy here?

Yes, I mean he obviously knows how to have a good time, but he’s a top bloke!!

Now, I had a bit of an Internet stalk on you two, and I noticed an international review online. Have you had much love from outside of Oz and are you planning on global domination?

Alex Jones: Haha, it’s a definite yes on the world domination… But international review?

Oh, you haven’t seen it? I will have to track it back down and link you up! It definitely wasn’t a bad review.
So being a pair of young, good-looking lads, I’m guessing a question on a lot of ladies lips is; are either of you single?

Alex Jones: Yes we actually! We are both single.

Sunnah: That doesn’t mean we are looking though!

Well of course. Bro’s before hoes! You wouldn’t want to ruin the bromance you two have got going on.

Alex Jones: Exactly! Now, what about you, are you single?

Yeah I am… but moving right along!  When can we see you play, you got any gigs coming up?

Sunnah: Yes! We are playing at Players Showgirls on the Gold Coast on June 19.

Cool, I’ll be at that show with my camera! See you two there!
