Scrawlz

SHORT & SWEET WITH SCRAWLZ /// INTERVIEW

Scrawlz is a Hip Hop artist from Mandurah who has taken a break recently but is now back feeling ambitious and ready to deliver more music to his fans. He has worked with a few artists in Perth and performed at an event hosted by Rob Shaker.

What’s your Hip Hop background?

I started writing general poetry as a youngin and slowly progressed into putting my words to music, I have no past releases but have supported artists such as, Scribe, La Coka Nostra, Greeley, OmacMr Grevis and many headline performances.

What inspires you to make Hip Hop music? What are your influences?

Many things inspire me to write music from expressing my opinions to venting on a track, there is something about writing to a beat and building it up to compliment the structure and hard work of the producer, especially if it has meaning or metaphors that people can relate to, most of my music takes me back to the exact time and place I wrote or recorded it, it just doesn’t get any more real.

Tell us about your latest project…

My latest project is my first album release titled the Rise Sinister LP, it is produced by Rob Shaker at Shakedown Studio’s and features work from producers such as Lord Dazastah, DJ Slande and more.

It also includes collaborations with both West Australian and Eastern States artist’s but you will have to cop the release to find out who. I am also working with my family at Riding Bars Alliance, who feature a range of graphic designers, DJ’s, producers, emcees & Fmx riders.

What is your process for creating music?

I have a few different processes of creating music but they are all triggered by a topic or mood that inspires me to write, generally I hear something that just moves me to a point where I freestyle to find the flow and go from there.
