Briggs Wins $15,000 cash at APRA Professional Development Awards /// Congrats!

Held every two years, the APRA Professional Development Awards aims to create serious opportunities for emerging songwriters and composers. Representing for Hip Hop in this all-genre awards, was Sydney’s L-FRESH The LION in the Popular Contemporary category, and for the Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander category was the Funkoar’s Trials and new record label boss Briggs. Ultimately Briggs won in his respective category, and along with that win brings the Shepparton boy a tidy $15,000 cash, and a headphone set from Audio Technica.

Briggs has had a big one this year, with ‘Shepplife’ winning the 2015 NIMA’s Album of the Year while the ‘Bad Apples’ video took the gong for Film Clip of the Year, and most importantly, taking out the Best MC award in the OzHipHop Awards for 2014. He’s also founded the Bad Apples Music record label, with an all indigenous roster, and has ben a regular seat at the writer’s table of the ABC show “Black Comedy”, and will hit the screen himself in 2016 in a supporting role in the upcoming series “Cleverman”.

Congratulations mate, even if this is particular award is going artists “in the early stages of their careers” we know how hard you’ve been hustling for years and it’s well deserved. To many more!
