Freedom is Mau Power’s second single, from his debut album The Show Will Go On, and features an incredible hook from the unmistakable Australian legend Archie Roach.
This clip, and undoubtedly the whole album, proves that hip hop is a universal language. Mau Power is from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. His music and his lyrics are precise, professional and powerful. He brings experience from his past and folds it into tales for now and the future; tales that are both personal to him but also relatable to all of us. This is thoroughly indigenous music, while still hip hop – pure and real.
