Darwin-based emcee Requiem is putting together an album based on his experiences in the NT.

“I’m planning to give people a taste of this tropical playground, and showcase some amazing musical talent that’s based up here, in the album,” he promises.  To assist him, he has received an Arts Development grant from the NT government, no doubt after his Mdusu-produced track Early AM earned him a finalist spot in the Urban/Hip hop category of the NT Song of the Year awards.

That very track will feature on the new album, alongside beats from a variety of up-and-coming producers from around the nation, as well as work from artists in Darwin, Alice Springs, and Nhulunbuy.

“This is the album I always wanted to make, I feel like I have discovered my sound and become comfortable in the studio,” he said.

“I’m excited about the songs I’ve been writing.”
